As far South as Seattle! LOL!
We have the Salish Sea here as well as the sound!

We almost never have ice issues however you might freeze your behind!

I just flew into Milwaukee yesterday and Lake Michigan and Milwaukee harbor is ice free. Of course the water is cold. It's even ice free harbor up here at Bailey's Harbor. Green Bay side is iced in.

This year you may not need to go south
The ice on St. Croix River over here on the WI/MN border is starting to go out.
Other than that you may want to go at least one state south, just so you don't need to wear you snowmobile suit to out sailing in March.

Good luck!

You can go to a Zen Master or you can go Sailing, either way you end up in about the same place..... a Happy Place

Good point. I'm hoping that's the case! It's not looking like my buddy will be able to be as available as me that week, so we might not be capable of doing much traveling.

If not by then, it sure feels like there'll be some open water around here soon, and that's exciting. We don't mind sailing in snowmobile suits!

I was just a Cana Lighthouse north of Baileys Harbor Wi this afternoon with grandkids. Warm 60 degree air and no ice in sight. I suspect any launch on Lake Michigan is open unless it's too far up a channel or river. Problem will be that the docks are probably not in.
