Hi All,

I finally had Anam Cara out on the water under sail(!) this past weekend.

One thing that I found was that the mainsail seemed really low overhead when sitting in the cockpit. Many of the pictures on the old Chrysler site show a significant amount of headroom for the boom.

I have measured both the main and the mast. The mast meets "spec" being 26' 6" almost exactly. The main is 25' head to tack. In looking at some sailmakers online, there seems to be 2 main sizes: 25' and 23.3 (from Harken).

The list there defined C22, C22 keel, and C22 TM (Tall Mast?). The C22 and C22 keel state 23.3 and the C22 TM states 25 for the luff length.

I purchased this sail set used off of the internet (from this site I think) over 3 years ago when I first got the boat. Is it possible I got a set from a Tall Rig C22?

Does anyone have measurements of their mainsails & jibs that you could share?

I had not checked sailrite yet. Great site. Yep...I've got a set of Tall Rig sails.

They might end up on the forsale side of things here shortly.

maybe a sailmaker can short the sail up for you?

I need to call and get quotes from some of the sailmakers in the area for how much a cut-down would cost.

I've also got a mishmash of sails that came with the boat. I think there are two cut-down mains from other boat types...I could also try those.

My boat came with sails from Vector, I think they are the original.

So the set I got were probably original for a tall-mast C22.

Well, I measured the jib also (well two of the five I think I have). That had a luff of ~25.5' and foot of 10'.

That doesn't match the sailrite dimensions for either the jib or the genoa...or the dims on the site I found earlier.

The sites I found had:

Sailrite
Jib I = 24, J = 8
Genoa I = 27.4, J = 14

Harken
Chrysler 22 I = 27.5, J = 8.8
Chrysler 22 TM I = 29.0, J = 8.8

Measurements
Jib 1 & 2 I = 25.5, J = 10
1 is Vector
2 is Boston (Slightly heavier material)

Is the sailrite jib a 90% or 100% jib? Maybe the 10' foot is the 110%?

The vector sail handled ok the previous weekend, but a slightly smaller one (like with the expected 8' foot) would help with SF Bay winds. It also had some issues with hanging up on the bow pulpit during tacks.

What sail sizes do all of you have/use in your sailing conditions?

I have just the main and a working jib most of the time. In light winds, I like to use my drifter/reacher/spinnaker. Plans for this winter its a new sail wardrobe.
