Rub Rail Repair

Postby desert sailor » Fri May 04, 2018 2:22 pm

Hi, all;

I have a '70s LS16. I was going to install a new rub rail to make it look nicer. Most of the kits I looked at on-line seem to snap over the edge to hold the piece in place. When I started to remove the rail on my boat it appears that the hull and topside are two pieces with a flange at the joint and the rail is somehow stapled through the flange to hold everything together. Does this sound right? Does anyone know how to fix/replace the rub rail? Are rub rails even available anywhere? If I don't replace it and just try to clean it up I would need the aluminum cover that fits over the rail at the stern, port and starboard. Does anyone have a used part I could buy?

Thanks.

It might be helpful for folks if you could post pictures of what you are talking about.

Welcome aboard!
