What Is This??

The Chrysler 22 has an opening inside the cabin on the port side next to the floor. It apparently is an access port of some kind but to what? Is it supposed to have a covering of some type? Thanks for your help!!

That will give you access to the Port side of the Keel Pin Assembly - you can see the Starboard side os the assembly through the cavity underneath the seat -

Mine has a black plastic over, sealed
From your picture, it looks similar....do you have a hole there? can you see the bolts/keel pin support?

There is a hole there and an opening inside the hole that is sealed with a cover and several bolts. A prior owner covered it all with lots of some type of sealant that took me about an hour to remove so I could find out what was underneath it. Is there anything to cover the opening like a plastic cap or something? Should it have leaked at some time in the past? It does not leak now but I want to make sure that I haven't done something that I shouldn't have by scrapping off the sealant.
