Starting On The Hull

Beginning the above waterline cleanup, and got the gelcoat chips, gouges and cracks repaired on the port side. I decided that rather than paint, I'd try compounding, buffing and polishing the hull to see how much the gelcoat bounced back. It looks promising after a first pass, and a few comparison pics are on my site at:

How did your gelcoat matching come out??
My C-22 was to oxidized to bad to get to come close,,, I like the shine on the work done in your pcts, always good to see elbow grease pay off!

Gelcoat matching wasn't so good, unfortunately I made the repairs before I compounded, lesson learned there.
Oddly enough, after the first round of compounding, the ghosts of 2 old names for EE showed up ! One of them I knew about from when we found her, the other was a complete surprise.
The areas where the graphics for them were showed up shinier than the rest of the hull. So I'm carefully scuffing the ghosts of the names with lite sanding, then recompounding and they are disappearing a bit. Who knew !
