Looks like more work

Post by ronc98 »

I decide to do a compression test before I put my johnson 9.9 back on my boat. Bad idea, compression was only 50 psi. I spent the rest of the day tearing the motor apart. I figure with a compression that low I might as well see what else is wrong with it.

If there is any good news it would be the bottom end oil looked good.

Got to hurry sping is coming fast and the snow pile in my front yard is almost melted!

Can't offer you too much comraderie on it since you are doing a teardown, but I did spend my Sunday working on my Chrysler 280 replacing the rectifier, aligning the remote cables, running a remote choke cable, and a remote kill button, and trying to figure out why it runs best with the choke about 1/3 closed !

And it was a perfect spring day down here !
