Splash day was a great success. We travelled about an hour from the storage site to launch site. The mast went up with a minimun of problems. We still have a slight issue with the mast swinging as we got it about 3/4's of the way up, even with using the rasing bridle system. Took about 2 hours to get the mast upright, rigged and sails bent on. The launch itself was a breeze. We even got to sail. It was dead calm all day, but about 30 minutes after we put her in, the wind started to pick up, wound up blowing about 12-15 and she sailed like a dream. It was a long, but great start to the season.

That sounds amazingly familiar. I have a new trick with the bridle system that minimizes the swing, I just have not got a chance to post it yet. Basically it involves adding a PVC support to keep the middle part of the brindle attached to the rail tight at the proper height. The pivot point needs to remain up at the height of the base of the mast or the length of the bridle supports will not be correct length in one position or the other. I also took EE's advice and use chain.

after reading your story, i'm starting to get excited about putting the Sea-Shell-E back in the water. getting closer.... hope my experience goes as well!!
