Old boat, new owner!

Post by kokezaru »

Hi all, Nice to see that there are many Chrysler sailors about.
I have been an OPB sailor for many years, but I just bought my first sailboat.
I picked up this C26 in Redwood City, CA for $1,900. Came with a three axel trailer and a 10hp Honda 4 stroke. Did I get a decent deal?
She is pretty clean, been sitting on the trailer for 10+ years. I moved her down to Santa Cruz and parked her next to my house. Thanks to all the great info online by Chrysler owners, I was able to raise the mast alone without too much trouble, using the boom as a jin.
I have lots of projects to complete to get her sea worthy again, so I am counting on you all for some advise as I run into problems.

I look forward to being part of the discussion group.

Welcome to the board. She looks nice.

Now that you have the mast stepped the rest is easy.

Thanks for the Welcome!

My C26 came with three sails (a Staysl, a 110% jib and a main), they look almost new. Does anyone have a recommendation on where I can get some larger foresails, like a 130 or 150 for cheap?

The original owner had installed a Forspar self tacking Jib boom. I contacted Forespar and they sent me some instructions on setting up thier current unit, but said that they have not made the style on my boat for 15 years. Any one else have one of these?

Thanks[/img]

I think I have a 150 that is in pretty good shape. I upgraded to a roller furler and it came with a new sail. I have no idea though what a decent shape sail would go for. I can take some pics if you want.

I actually three sails, a 150, a 120 and a storm jib.
