Around here, Puget Sound, the better days are spring and fall!

Summer can be beautiful however the wind is generally very light.
The iron lung gets a good workout if you are impatient!

Spring, excellent winds generally reasonably mild but we do get some rain!

Fall works great too. Lots of wind, usually a bit drier than spring.

Winter is almost always windy and or raining! Yep. Plan on getting wet if you sail in the winter around here. I sneek Lady Jo out once in a while but the effort is limited.

Good thing is on Destiny we have a complete enclosure for the cockpit. It allows for all year sailing with reasonable comfort.

October thru March, Summer has thunder storms, light air and suffocating heat and humidity

October through May. The deciding factor is wind, and we get lots of it then. I'm a little bent, though: last year one of my best weekends out involved one night on the hook with a low of 13 degF, a high the next day of 22 degF, and a low the next night of 10 (on the hook again). No houseboats that don't know, or don't care, about the rules of the road, no need for sunscreen, no feeling in my fingers... well, that last bit wasn't so good, but it was still a great weekend.

Here mid April to end of October as soon as the ice is off the river and creek so I can retrieve my mooring in the spring and when fingers start to lose feeling or a forcast of major snow as I need the ramp to get her out.
