I have what looks like the original motor bracket on my boat. It is very sloppy and wiggles around when motoring. The springs don't give any help in lifting the motor so I end up just dragging it when under sail. The motor I have is a Chrysler 10 H.P. it runs great and I don't plan on replacing it for awhile.
My question is what is a good replacement bracket?

Hi Mike, have seen good and bad OB motor brackets the best I have ever used is on my daughters new boat, the brand which I will get for you at daylight is awesome almost wish they made one for my Honda 9.9 I really like it, spring loaded so it's easy to pull up or lower down and she has a heavy 4 stroke like mine. see ya soon.

I have a Garlick.. or something like that..spring loaded and holds up very well....
although my new 4-stroke weighs a ton and is really staining it to the max and I will have to tend to it before I launch this spring..
I recently saw a guy invented something all new.. it is like a stainless trolley that utilizes a pulley and block to pull it up/down from the cockpit with rope and purchase.... ez to copy and it pulls the OB all the way up to the stern rail if you like... the OB is mounted on a nice teak board which rides on two stainless rails mounted to the transom and cna then be raise or lowerd into any hegiht. he has a web site where he sells this system... no one has licensed his patent yet so he is only source and his website can be hard to find... but I found it interesting...
