c-22. 7.7 mph off coast of kiawah island near charleston sc. 20-30 mph winds and 6-8 foot seas. I assume the high speed came from surfing down a swell. First time on blue water, was scary at first, but turned out to be quite exciting after we got use to it.

consider leaving the brackets with no holes drilled in them... not all c22 use the same mounting holes...I know from personal experience, the donor boat and my boat were considerably off and i had to make my own brackets.

I wouldnt touch it!!!! chances are that pipe fitting is well corroded, and is going to require a lot of torque to break it free...you might end up breaking something...including the seal. The "goop" is normal and is more than likely 5200 marine sealant. The more the better. I disagree with...

it varies...about an inch in the rear then probably 12" or so in the front.

You could probably get away with having the hull 3' off the ground, just depends on what you use to get the keel in and out with.

I would give yourself 3-4' of room to work. I used a Heavy floor jack to maneuver mine around. I built a cradle with 4 standards that fit into the large hole in the floor jack. It worked great. I would strongly recommend having a helper with you! You'll have to use 2 bottle jacks and some blocking t...

Luckily we only get about 10-12 inchs of snow a year here. I can see the boat from my front porch so it will be easy to keep an eye on it. I guess the main concern for me is that the motor doesnt freeze up and bust. Does the water in the water jackets drain down when the motor isnt running? should i...

How to keep boat in water all winter?

I am considering leaving my boat in the water all winter. I live in western NC where it can get down in the single digits at times. My question is what do I need to do to keep my boat in the water all winter. Do I need to pull the outboard out except for when I am using it? It doesnt stay cold long ...

changing a c22 trailer to fit c26

I might be getting a c26. It doesnt have a trailer, so for the time being I was going to use my c22 trailer...atleast to get it home. My c22 trailer is the tandem version that I see a lot of guys using for their c26. Has the 4 post roller system with 4 rollers for the keel. I think it is this one......

Its amazing how a good looking impeller or any type of water pump, can look to be in good shape but just wont pump water. A lot of times its not just a bad impellar, but the housing. If it gets just a little out of wack or scarred it wont work. I'm not sure about the chrysler motors, but most pump k...

I've seized many of 2stroke motors...doesnt mean it needs to be torn down. Usually after they cool they free themselves. I've seized them by not remembering to mix the oil with the gas and by over heating them. Obviously its not good for them, but doesnt always warrant a tear down. free it up and ch...
