Scott, amen on the choke-addled Tohatsu. I have the same issue, and have even had it to a dealer in years past to try to have it corrected. Once it gets warmed up it runs like a champ but runs wild while it is getting set. Dealer was able to make it better but not right. Otherwise, it is very ...

Porter, Welcome (almost) to the Chrysler fleet. They are great, well built boats which seem to last forever with little work. That said, do you enjoy working on fixing problems with a boat? There are those among us who get a great deal of satisfaction from tackling a project and seeing it through ...

Water, water, everywhere except under my boat.

Hi All,

I need a comment or two on letting the 22 sit in mud all winter with the
keel about halfway down. Not that I have much choice at this point as the water level in my lake (Lake Norman, NC) has dropped dramatically and very
quickly and is off by many feet from 'full pond'. So, it looks as if ...

Hey Briceburg,

Are you sure the rudder is down and not up? If up, you can see it under the stern and that will give you some noticeably different steering. You mentioned the 'up and down' lines, and I guess the 26 is the same as the 22, so if they are missing, maybe the rudder is always up and not ...

Sailorman, Have you sold the tiller and hardware. If not, I just broke my tiller mount and can surely use the entire thing. Let me know at jeffbergmann@hotmail.com and I'll get with you about payment.

Thanks, Jeff

Terrence,

it looks to me like you have a sailboat hull on a regular type bunk trailer. Not enough support for the hull where it lays on the bunks and the hull is crushing in. It will eventually crack and cause more trouble than it is worth. Is the boat strapped down in the back? If so, release the ...

Hi all. Chrysler 22 question

Anybody got some advice as to what is the best choice for line
when replacing the two rudder control lines? I pulled the boat out a few
months ago and replaced it with some fairly stout nylon stock but the up
control has already worn thru and broken. Anybody tried ...

Excellent and timely advice. I moved up too close to a small island this past

was doing just fine when I let go of the reins. The tiller whipped around and banged into me. Fortunately, I was going slow and able to get the ...

Scott,

I know you say you want a used motor but try onlineoutboards.com and see what prices you can get on a new Tohatsu. I got one a year ago and they shipped it in three days to my house free shipping. Tohatsu makes all Nissan and Mercury up to about 40hp so why spend more for a brand name ...

Original Chrysler trailer wheel bearings

Hi all,

I have an original trailer that came with the 22 in '86'. I was moving it in the yard and noticed one wheel wobbling so I checked the bearing. It had completely thrown up and was in little pieces around the spindle and hub.

So, without any info and no hope of taking anything of the old ...

Hey Mariner,

I had loose backstay supports and asked on the site for some ideas. Take a 7/16 socket, long extensiion (double up if needed), and go up blind from the cockpit side. It sounds like an impossible task to think
you will be able to get the socket over the hidden nuts, but, trust me,
