Re: C22 mast spreader
Looking through old posts I found one that indicated the spreaders should be about 28” He replaced the originals with some streamlined ones from Dwyer aluminum mast co. . 27-3/4” There is a picture of a set of original mast bases for the c22 that look a lot like the one in your post. Search the old ...

Re: C22 mast spreader
Lucky you you have one of a kind custom spreaders! If you don’t like the custom look you can go to rig rite or a number of other marine suppliers. Just match the length and location with the replacements. You will want to make sure the mast is reinforced where the base of the spreaders rest on the m...

Re: Water coming up the rudder up/down lines.
Mathew, I don’t know what model boat you have , I have a c26. I haven’t ever had that issue running the same engine you have. Are you overloaded in the stern or perhaps taking on water in the stern ? The rudder not being fully down would open the tube to water intrusion. Hope you find the issue, l’v...

Re: C22 Deck solid or cored?
I have a 26. When I cut a chain hawse opening on the forward deck the plug I took out was honeycomb but was completely solid with resin about an 1 1/4” thick. I don’t know what the rest of the deck is but the front 3’ is rock solid on the 26.

Finish up what must be done and go sailing! After you sail for awhile you wil feel better about projects you want to do . I just finished a 3 year project of building flaps for my home built super cub. I know how tired you can get of working on a project that takes a long time. Go sail !

Gary, Sounds like you are making great progress. If you are in an area that has high humidity I would really encourage you to install a fuel water separator. A friend of mine just took is Hunter 26 up to the puget sound. I warned him about water condensation in the fuel tank and gave him the separat...

Re: forestay on a C26
If the forestay is in good condition you will have no trouble re using it. If you are not replacing the roller reefing you can add the hank on attachment parts to the existing sail . What kind of a furler do you have . I have an old one and would love to have spare parts.

Sailing lessons learned Puget sound WA
I finally was able to get out on my 26 in the Puget sound after 3 yrs of obstacles. I have a reasonable amount of experience on lakes but almost none in an ocean environment. We launched using a tow strap without difficulty and managed to get out of the marina and spent the night on a marine park bo...

Re: Reefing line in boom
J The information you need about the boom is in the documents section under c26 courser jpg 109. The pully on the boom is to tighten the foot on the mainsail. You can find information on reefing by googling jiffy reefing. There are several ways to reef. Searching the internet will raisiny give you p...

Re: Hull serial number
Dumac, You are right in that you should expect the date to show up on the hin or sn. If you are in a state that titles boats you should find it on the title or if you can find previous owners they may be able to help you. Sorry I can’t be more help. Let us know if you are able to find out. Good luck...

Re: The C26 head compartment.
Gary, Others have looked at doing that before, the consensus was you would be putting water in an area that has exposed wood. I believe the base of the wood compression post for the mast would be exposed to water in that area, if that’s the case it’s not a good idea, you might install a small sealed...

C26 trailer woes
Last year during the month of June my wife and I planned a month long sailing vacation in Washington state where we keep our C26. Although I’ve owned the boat for 4 years now we have only been able to sail twice due to family situations (we live in CO ) . When I bought the boat the previous owner ha...

Under floor tank?
I have a C26 swing keel that has a 2” plug in the floor just in front of the door to the head. The plug says water but l’m sure it is not that. The boat has an after market marine head with a 5 gal tank with the standard pump out. I suspect the boat came with a factory installed head and this may ha...

Tim,
Try going to the documents section and check if there is a Manuel for the ls, that will be the most likely place to find the information you need.

Re: Reefing line in boom
Jfishburne If you go to the documents section and peruse the rigging notes rhere is a picture showing how to rig the boom. You can also go on line and google reffing , you will see more than one solution. Do not go out until you know how to reef. Over powering you boat can cause loss of controll and...

Re: Mast step/Tabernacle?
Today I believe you are on the right track. The boat should be designed to float with the table level I would suggest that you use the cockpit floor as your datum and make the mast step level with that. You won’t be far off and there is a little bit of adjustment when you rig with the shrouds. In an...

Re: Pivot pin properties?
Gary, I know that at least one forum member put a bushing in the keel when he reconditioned it. I’m sure the keel rotates on the pin. I would expect the pin should be a snug fit in the shoes. I doubt you will ever have to redo the keel again, remember it took a long time to be seized before you got ...

Re: Gotta replace the broken keel cable
Gary,
If you reuse the shoes you might re drill the pin hole all the way through so it can be serviced without removing the shoes. Some have drilled it one size bigger but drilling the keel oversized is said to be very hard material. Glad you finally got the keel out.

Re: Gotta replace the broken keel cable
Gary: Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. The keel and shoes are probably acting as one unit because of the rust. Others have used a saws all to cut the pin on both sides. Once this is done each shoe may be able to be shifted individually allowing penetrating oil to get around the bolts. Y...

Reefing is an essential skill if you are going to sail. It is not difficult but I don’t think I can describe it as well as watching a video on YouTube. If you are out away from your anchorage and it looks like the wind is going to increase substantially it is best to reef before you find yourself be...
