Ok the 1st mate and I are about to take our 1st cruise this comming week in our very nice C-26 (Thanks to Frank) and I want to make sure we have everything to make it as enjoyable as possible. (Yea I know its not the best time of the year)

We have spent the last 2 weekends getting ready

Where can I find a list of things that we should have aboard?

or just the things that should be aboard but wouldn't normally think of?

It in such good shape it was mostly cosmetic to get it ready.

And I love it!

Crusing experience:
Batteries, batteries, batteries, you can never have enough.
Go to Sam's club, or better yet, Costco, (so that we don't contibute to the downturn of society, by helping wal-mart! But, thats another discussion.)
Everytime I talk to a fellow cruiser, they tell me "bring more batteries" and they also say they didn't have exactly they right clothing to be the most comfortable, we tend to error on the "warm" or "cold" side.
Check into those space saver thingies that you hook your vacuum up to and they suck the air outta your clothes.
I'm sure there is a million crusing tips out there.
Fill up all 26 feet of that boat with crap and go sailing, darn it!

Congratulations on moving up from a c22 to a c26... nice boat with a lot of goodies. I would not worry to much over what you may or may not need on this first cruise... call me ill-responsible, but you and your 1st mate just have fun. The c26 will tell you on its own what you may need in the future... which I feel is part of the fun.

I'd start with a list of legal items.

Make sure all the lights work.
Fire extinguisher,
Noise maker,
Saftey kit, IE bandages, gause, aspirin, etc
Flare gun,
Life jackets that are comfortable
VHF
etc.


I also always prefer wool blankets for cold weather!

Maybe some spirits of choice.
A good book for captain and crew.
Copies of Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine
Food. I always get hungry on the water . . .


Now that you have a list of items to bring, go back and remove 50% of the items you think you need! Heh heh! We always WAY OVER PACK!

As mentioned above, the boat will tell you what she needs! LOL!
