C22 Gooseneck Question

The boom I got came with a fixed gooseneck meant to be screwed to the mast. I'd rather use a sliding gooseneck. My choices are 3/8" & 1/2". I have in hand a 3/8" but my gut is telling me it's too small. Which are you folks using?

Hmm, not 100% sure here, the 3/8" seems too small to me. In fact I may be mentally measuring the goose neck in the wrong place but my goose neck is maybe 3/4" across, side to side on my C-22.

3/4... Wow. I have some confirmation the 3/8 is too small. I took the fitting off the boom and it has a 1/2" diameter shaft. The 3/8 also has a 3/8 shaft. I could strap the mast on top of the car and take it to the nearest sailboat shop, but it's about 50 miles away (aren't a lot of them in Colorado).

IF you are looking for a gooseneck and toggle, I got mine for my old 1976 C22 here:

I no longer have the part number but Carl (Carl_IN_TX) bought the K-1993 part for his 22 and was happy with it.

Correct, the part that goes into the mast is 1/2". I went out and measured it. My sail slugs are all 3/8" but it looks like they could have been 1/2" as well.
