Perhaps a silly question... I would rather ask one than make a stupid mistake. Once the toe rails are removed is there any danger short of pink elephants dancing on the deck that the hull-to-deck joint may slip in any fashion, if the toe rails are left off for an extended period of time?

The answer is no. The hull, deck has a sealer between the fiberglass which helps in the overall strength of the joint. The sealer is still pliable after all these years, 1978. It is important to tie off the rail as you go, you don't want is hanging on the last few screws that you will need to remove.
