Vang mast fitting

Hi,
I'm going to buy a vang but am unable to figure out where to get a mast
fitting to attach the vang to.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Mine is made from 1/2" aluminum rod slipped into the mast slott. Two 1/4" threaded holes are drilled and taped through the rod into the mast about 1 1/2" or 2" appart. Two short piecies of 1 or 1 1/2" stainless angle (about 1/2") long are held to the mast with two 1/4" screws that go throught the rod into the mast. A 1/4" bolt runs parallel to the mast through the two pieces of angle. A short piece of 1/2" aluminum bar is drilled so it can pivot on the 1/4" bolt between the two angles. The vang is attached to the short piece of aluminum bar through a hole drilled in the aft end.

This atachment to the mast is as close to deck level as possilble and will let the vang swing with the boom. Bails for attaching the vang to the boom are available from any sailboat hardware supplier, such as APS or Defender.

Thanks for the info. I ended up finding a mast vang tang from garhauer.
I will try that since I don't really have the tools or parts to put one together at the moment.
