Never did much sailing this year (none), it was just crazy busy with all kinds of other stuff, family illness etc, but i did start on a few projects, check out my new electric panel and cd/radio, new shelves. I hope to have all of this done so there will not be any work next year!

Nicely done, Mariner. The last owner mounted the new panel on my boat about a month before I bought it from him. I thought it was well done till I see your solution and yours is a much cleaner, more elegant installation I must say.

I did not mount the speaker yet, there are a few areas that i could "cut" them in, but I hate to cut anything into the FG...so the jury is still out, I may try to get some box speakers and use those instead of the round ones that came with the CD player. One of my "projects" is to install new ss backing plates and I have devised some that will take mounting brackets for fans and the VHF radio integrated with the backing plate, I'll post pics when i can, i'm thinking some type of box speaker to go with that idea (at the standing rigging alumn. bracket. Anyone have a good speaker that they like that isn't too big?

Heh, I was just going to pm you with questions re: the work you've done on your c22, after coming across the pictures when looking at the hat.
I notice that you have a nice clean and clear access way from the cabin to stbd aft under the cockpit, where the galley would slide. My c22 doesn't have the galley, but that spot looks like its been filled with some sort of foam. I am motivated to dig it out and work towards the arrangement you have ( *never* though of putting a car radio in, that's just great ). Did you have to worry about adding any load bearing joists or trusses to have that area open like that?

Very nice, It's time for me to install the an electrical system in my boat. I think I may use your install as a starting point. Do you plan to install another shelf over the radio? Where is your Battery located? I was thinking about locating mine in the compartment under the dinnett seat as close to the keel cable as I can to add to the ballasted weight. Thanks! Jeff

Before you go and install speakers in your cockpit,
consider this,
I have a speaker forward of the table on the port side mounted to the tiny little bulk head and a speaker mounted forward of the sette on the starboard side. Both speakers face aft.
I can turn the stereo up plenty to hear the speakers in the cockpit and the sound is fine. Plus the speakers are protected against weather and the elements.
Granted if someone is below while sailing it is a bit loud but that is rarely the issue with us!
Unfortuantely I do not have an interior photo of Lady Jo available to show but here is one of Lady Di before we cleaned her up. It shows where the speakers are mouned though!

Here's my radio and power panel set-up.

But after some time I sure it would be nice to have the radios controls closer to the cock-pit
I have also see speakers mounted in the space between the storage holes in the v-birth, but on Happy Place they would be hard to hear due to all the stuff usually up there.

Found a set of WP marine speaker on the bay for 20 bucks including shipping (I hope they don't suck LOL!), I will be mounting them facing the inside of the cabin under the shelves on either side of the companion way. I'll post pics when done! Not sure what i'm going to do with the 6" rounds that i have but the idea of building a box for them and using as a movable speaker may be the ticket.

Sorry for the delay, but here is the pic of the back of the speaker on the port side.
