Found one on ebay, it is a used Harken Furling System from a 28' sail boat. ebay idem # 300489752456. Starting bid $300 By Now $350 it is in Rockford Il. I have ben watting four a reply to my questens, on weather or not it will fit my new sail from Windward. 5 day's remain on bidding, in the photo I can't see a drum four rope, so it may be a electric system. Hope to get a reply from saler, be four some one buys it. If it would work four me, I would pay the by now price.

No replay as yet, on the used Harken. ok found another Alado Rurling/ Reefing, Practical Salor Mag. 09/09 top chose. Brand New @ $595 is offerd @ 30% off so -180 = $415 it will work with Windwards old sail,(#6 tape, an this one comes with life time worinty $415 + tax + $50.00 shipping ( Made in USA ) Thay have a video looks easey to install, an on install, pryer to unstepping. an goes on after stepping. I think I like this one.

I did see some answers posted on the E-Bay listing. I can't tell if it is a Unit 0 or Unit 1. I'm pretty sure both use #6 tape (I know the Unit 0 does). I think the included set of extrusions (the tubing that the head stay goes into) are not long enough, so you'd need to scare up another extrusion and a couple of connectors. The missing screw's no big deal, it's just #10-32 flat or oval head.

Once you add the price of an additional extrusion, plus the headstay modification, the overall price goes up. I've not used the Alado, but a Practical Sailor top choice is likely to be a decent bet. For such a small (if any) price difference I'd think going new would be the best trick, especially if the Alado uses your existing headstay.

Let us know what you decide, and how it works out.

Yes Alado uses my existing head stay, That is my Top Choice too, now to place the order. Any one wishing to check it out can see it hear www.aladous.com ( nice video on how to install it ) Hope you are sitting down, On our C-26 we have to go with the A 1 Model $780.00 But the Shipping Is Free ( What A Deal ) Cost of boat, outboard, trailer, an all the balse & wisels that came with my C-26 $2300.00 + windward's old sail $350 + new Roller-Furling $780.00. ( 350 + 780 = $ 1130.00 ) 1/2 what I payed for the boat. Now I think my boat is worth $ 3430.00, but steal 780 is a lot of money.

I got a seaflex furler by Hood yacht systems from Defender for $399 brand new and works well with the sails I got from sailbob2

$399 or $780 Some say you get what you pay for, at least I hope to. Not that I have money to thro away, but I think the Alado is better. Any thing to keep an old man by his self out in a storm on his boat. Paying a littel more to be abel to sail another day. Practical Salor Mag. 09/09 top chose

Hey Bob I'd go for the Alado also if it were the deffrence between a new furler or an old one. I visited the website and looks good. I like how you can mount it after the mast is up. You Know what a pain my Harken is to mess with when raising my mast - LOL

you need to measure your head stay and follow instructions on how much to subtract and to install you make sure forward lower shrouds are tensioned and you can take the head stay loose. I would try to do this after measuring and cutting furler extrusion and when ready to install. When you get ready to assemble the drum area wire the turnbuckle or right and left hand thread nuts as if you do need to lower the mast you can let some tension off the aft lowers and back stayto remove the clevis pin at the furler.
by the way the sails in the picture are the ones I mentioned.

9:15 AM FedEx is at my door, alado roller furling has come. I paced the order on 11/12/2010 in the AM. an on 11/15/ its at my door, that's fast. This is a vary hevy duty unit. Whin I am out on the big lake in a 30-40 wind an 4-6 waves I will be glad I got it. But It Is Not Mad In USA. It is made in Riode Janeiro BRAZIL hear is the brake down on cost---Commercial invoice US$ 345.00--Transportation cost US$ 240.00---Estimated taxes US$ 195--- Promo price US$ 780 I hope we can turn this country of ours around an start making things in the USA. SO MANEY OUT OF WORK, when I ordered this I though it was made in the USA sorry it was not. I know we can do better.

Glad the furler's there. My flight got fouled up today, and I'm not back in town until next Sunday night, so won't get the sail out until after that. Hope the furler's as cool as it sounds.

No rush Jeff, I have to wate ontil spring anyway. Furler is supper cool, has two genoa halyard's, if you had a twin sail, I could use them bouth. I can lower an rase each genoa independently. A spinnaker pole is no more necessary as each genoa directs wind to the other and the entire system is supported by the headstay; and I can reef the two genoas altogether. Going down wind with two genoas, no main, an no need for a spinnaker. Too much wind, reef bouth genoas at the same time. That is varry cool, an I will have an extra halyard to use for what ever.
