Tried sailing my Manowar with my son last Sun. The winds at the local reservoir were strong and gusty. Made it across the lake once but on the way back the snap connecting the boom to the back grommet of the sail broke and we became helpless in the water. The violent luffing of the sail shredded the back edge. A kind fisherman towed us in. Fortunately there is a local place to get the sail repaired. My sail has always been kind of jury rigged in its attachments to the boom. I wonder if anyone has any rec's for a good way to attach the sail to the boom and what kind of hardware to use to avoid the above scenario in the future.
Thanks

Well,
I'm not familiar with the setup on a man-o-war but it sounds like a loose footed sail.
If the sail was set up loose footed but the sail was designed with a bolt rope or slugs on the foot, that may be the issue. The grommet was not strong enought to hold the sail. IS there a track or slot in the boom?

Do you have some detailed pictures of the end of the boom and the set up where it failed?
What exactly broke?
I picture the grommit pulling out of the clew of the sail?
Or the rope that ties to the grommet in the sail broke?
Or maybe the block on the end of the boom failed?
Pictures would likely get some better answers for ya!
Or of another Man-o-War sailor can take photos of the set up for us to see we can help out better!
