Rudder question

Post by Paul »

I've been going by the plans to make a new rudder for my C-22. It shows 7/8 holes going side to side and then holes coming down into those. I'm guessing this second set of holes is smaller than 7/8 otherwise there is nothing to keep the rope from pulling through. Could someone confirm this?

The second hole is 1/2 inch, the rope goes into it. Then pull it through the 7/8 hole an put a not in the rope, an pull it tite agenst the 1/2 inch hole. The not stops the rope from pulling through, I made a lup in the rope, so the same rope is used for up- rudder & down- rudder. An I filed the 7/8 hole in with Bondo. an paint

Thanks! I don't know if that note can be added to our manual section or not. That's where I found the plans.

Happy sailing!

Hi Paul,
If you wwould be kind enough to create a word document or PDF or such with explicit details and photos in the document ( not linked elsewhere ) I can add it to the document section for future reference!!!

I'm trying desparately to not link to other sites in the document section only because it becomes a parasitic network bandwidth draw on the other site. If we host them here then we do not have to worry another site might change or go away.

Thanks!!

I may be misunderstanding you, Scott. The drawing of the rudder is already on our site at:
Documentation, Chrysler, 22' Sandpiper (spelled wrongly), Specifications, Rudder drawing.

If you need it, I have it saved as a word document and can add the hole sizes using text boxes and then pm it to you.

Yes, updated/added info in the manual would be great!

Oh My! I did misspell that! Sunpiper is then name of a 42' ketch I spent time on as a teenager! I hope I'm not loosing my mind! LOL!

I'll get the spelling fixed also over the weekend!

Thanks for the catch!

Yea, well the reason I never played piano is becasue with 88 keys and only 10 fingers I was hopelessly outnumbered!

Turns out I have to scan in the rudder again because I can't save it to a document from the foum. I'll do that and add some text boxes with the hole dimensions we talked about and send it over.

Have a great Saturday!
