OK, After half a decade on the hard ( boat was great when it was in the water last)
it looks liek the fixed keel C-26 is going in the water this season ( slip came avail. suddenly) so in a rush, what to look out for or take care of before she goes in...
I fugure the thru hulls with new hoses and clamps as well as the rudder tube... would have like to put in my new rudder bearings but can't find a fresh rudder blade and this job should all really be done at once so maybe put off 'till next winter.
I think i'll also buff with 3m restorer and of course bottom paint and fresh battery and tune-up the outboard.
BTW I have some oil canning on teh cockpit sole and some soft spots onthe deck...worried only about the chain plates as I don't want a catastrophic failure of the rigging on the bay, how can I test if OK or reinforce..
Surprise! Splashing this season... need some guidance
look inside the cabin at the alum bracket the chain plates bolt to, if it is only screwed down with a wood screw on the front end you should think about making that bracket better. I used 2" angle 5 inch long used three 1/4-20 toggle bolts and bolted it to the back of the seat. Then used the angle to screw into the 1" alum square tubing running to the chain plate bracket.
I can post pics this weekend when I put mine in the water.
if it is a fixed keel at least you dont have to worry about the keel cable breaking.
good luck!
