Hello all, My name is Mike and I am the new owner of this boat. My wife and I were the successful bidders and won the auction Sunday night. This is the beginning of our 2nd love affair with the Chrysler 22, we preiously owned and sailed one for several years here in south FL. In 1987 my wife became pregnant with our first son (we have 3 children now) and the sailboat had to go, now that our boys are in college we decided we would try to relive the better times of our youth , find another C 22, and create some more memories.
The boat is located in Brunswick GA, we had someone look at it for us and it appears to be in as good shape as the pictures indicate.
We have found a slip in Stuart which is about 20 minutes north of where we live in Jupiter, we'll be making final arrangements on the slip this week.
I'll need to go up to GA and pick it up in the next couple of weeks, do any of you know of anyone in FL or south GA that might have a C-22 trailer that they'd be willing to rent for a weekend? I have searched the internet for a commercially available trailer to rent and have been unsuccessful. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. I will post some pictures as soon as I take possession of the boat.

Welcome to the forum!
That looks like one sweet deal you got on your new 22!!
We all look foward to sharing your prgress as you get her and bring her home!
Take lots of photos and post 'em here!
If it helps any, I have a link on my own website listed in my signature on how I step the mast on my 22. If you click the photos on that link they will be large and hires so don't click them if you are on dialup! LOL!
The last photo there is a link to a video of my mast going up and down.

Welcome aboard, she looks sweet. Nice price too.
I'm guessing you've been checking the area Craigslist(s)? - I seen a couple suitable trailers in the Biloxi/Ocean Spring area for $600, but that is way out of your way.
I seems like someone on the forum from the Southeast rented a trailer somewhere once, but I can't find the thread...

Hi Mike and welcome aboard!
we are over 200 miles south of you, BUT I am very familar with Palm Beach County, I went to school at UM and our oldest daughter lives in West Palm, there is a guy who rents boat trailers on Military Trail in LW
just south of LW Rd. I think......you might try the folks at Jupiter Seasport right by the bridge over the Loxahatchee, lots of trailer sailors around there, good luck and if you ever tow her down to the Conch Republic give me a shout here on the forum. I try to steer clear of the mainland.

Hey Keysskipper thanks for the tips, I've been to Seasport, and I'll try the place in Lake Worth like you've suggested. I was thinking too that I might send a few emails or PMs out to some of the FL members on the memberlist, is that kind of thing prohibited on here? Don't want to get into trouble... Thankskeysskipper

Well, no luck yet on a rental trailer, contacted the company in GA that rents trailers, they have one (not specifically for a C-22), but it is not available until 5/20 (thanks for the PMs sending me to them). By the way, they get $125.00 per day or $500.00 per week now for this trailer.
Sent a few PMs to Florida based C-22 owners from the memberlist just haven't gotten any replies yet. Started paying rent on the new slip (empty one here in FL) and started paying rent on the old slip (where the boat is currently located in Brunswick GA). I got plenty of slips, just no trailers, I'll let you all know what happens.

50 miles a day, maybe, you should make in 8 days
Mike, no luck in LW with the guy on the trail? lots of trailers for rent down here if you want to make the 5 hour drive, I'll find you one, in fact my Buddy at Coffin Marine on Big Pine has one that will work, splash in Jupiter at Burt Reynolds and bring the trailer back or splash in the CR and make the 4 day sail north.

Finally got up to Brunswick to pick up the boat yesterday. We had only seen pictures up until we got there around noon, it was better than we expected. Everything was as the seller had indicated, 4 sails (main, wkng jib, Genoa, spinnaker and pole, EPIRB, dingy, and tons of other stuff. The motor fired up 1st pull.
Here are of few shots of her being hauled out and ready for the trip home, we got her back to south FL about 11:30.

And this one is just getting it cleaned up a little today, I took it mostly for my VW buddies on another forum.

Ok, since you took a pic with her behind the VW, I am going to ask this question. I hesitated, and my wife said you'all would poke fun at me, but here it goes. What about tie-dye on the Sea-Shell-E? I'm going to, at least, have a tie-dyed flag, but what about an overall paint job on bottom. I know a lot of you feel VERY STRONGLY about this boat and her heritage. And I would never intentially do anything to discredit her name. However, when I do have to get her hull repainted (cause I cannot do it myself), I had thought about sinking some money into having her tie-dyed. Just a thought.

We nearly got her to her new home today but the weather was terrible and we had to stop a little short. We tied her up at the boat yard in Port Salerno where we lifted her back in the water. Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and we can sail it the rest of the way home.
I used the gin pole method for the first time to step the mast, it worked flawlessly. No issues at all, up in just a minute, pinned and set like we had done it a hundred times. Very nice method. Here are some shots of her going back in at at her temporary home.
