Splashed Lady Di last night!

Well the first time ever I managed to see Lady Di float!

Yep! HAd two major concerns. One was a leak around the rudder or keel and the other was could we even get her off the trailer. The trailer for Lady Di is a heaveier and better built trailer than LAdy Jo's. Also it has surge brakes! However there is no tongue extension. I was concerned my little Ford Explorer might not get her deep enough at the launch!

Questions answered!!
No leaks, and the trailer is fine!

thats great Scott glad everything went well.

Wish I could splash mine, still having trouble finding a home for it. There are 4 or 5 nice lakes here but most marina's have a 2 yr waiting list or a $2000 up front payment for a slip per yr.

I have trailer but no tow vehicle and not sure if im comfortable 2 hour trips each way. (last time we took my buddies boat to the lake some woman hit the trailer.)

The way I see it, another week or so and I'll have two C22's ready to sail!
Yeah, I know they are no where near as nice as some of the Chryslers here but come on! Lets play!

We had a similar issue. our launch ramp has a very gentle slope and with the Rube Goldberg trailer mods we made she sat high. We used tow straps
to drop her deep enough, but it was always a wet job, as you lose some contol backing down, basically we had to let gravity ease her down the ramp with the tow vehicle acting as a big brake.

Hey congrats Scott!

Always nice when things work out like that isn't it!

We watch the water levels of the lake to launch in spring and take out in the fall and I know now how much I need minimally to do it... this Spring was the lowest yet, with water to the door step, we had to float the boat off the rear of the trailer before pulling the truck forward,, or else the rear bunks would hit the hull....

Do you know what tide or sea level is your minimun to launch or does that matter much??

The EE launch sequence at the club ramp entails backing up until the rear wheels get near the slick stuff, and then slam on the brakes. Whoosh, off she comes. Luckily that doesn't need to be done often. Haulouts I always hope for rain and high water.

What matters more is which Launch I'm in. There are a couple even at high tide I can not launch. However after asking several boaters the depth under them I made notes of each lanch. Number 7 baby! Yep Lucky 7 is the deepest. Since 7 is market for retreval only I will only launch when there are only a few boats around.

We floated Lady Di at almost low tide! Yeh, my feet will get wet every time but oh well!

curious... anyone float off a fixed keel c-26??? wonder how much water that would take?

Outstanding! Now you can really have dueling 22's!

That could vary some with trailer design. I've been looking at our C26 (swing keel) trailer and I figure if I really want to I could get the boat almost a foot closer to the ground. Of course then it comes down to time and money and how often it would really make a difference.

Measure from ground to waterline and you'll know how much water it takes to float your boat :lol:

WOW, that was simple... here I was trying to become archmedes or someething to figure out boyancy and weight and all that stuff. Trailer I was after and sure I had in the bag...got beat out by someone faster who was more local than I...
