Source for Boat Stand Tops?

Post by tgentry »

I'm updating and fixing my trailer. Just wondering if anyone has a good source or advice for buying boat stand tops.

I'm about to bild my own, I was planning on using treated deck plank, and the local boat store has the carpet. It worked great on the cradle my c-22 is sitting on now.

I decided to order from Hostar. At about $41.50 each including shipping, I decided I couldn't save enough to make it worth building my own.

I made my own. Got some scrap steel at about the right size at a scrap yard and welded on a couple of plates for a bracket. Instead of using plywood on top, I used rubber "Horse mat" (which I got from a freind) and some outdoor carpet from Home depot.

The steel cost me a total $50 for all six.

Nice job of scrounging!

I was looking at all new material. Screws, nuts, angle iron, plywood... Once I priced it all out (the threaded rod was quite expensive) it just didn't seem worth my time. I already have so many projects I figure I can never die.
