Now why would you want to go an do someything silly like buy a NEW boat :-) When the old ones are such fun :(

Good luck in the job hunting! Use the time wisely and sail a lot, once you start working its difficult to make time to plan sail trips.

I was looking into buying a bigger boat, but I think I'll keep the C-22 for a while. If I buy a new engine for it I won't move up for a long time (besides I sail alone most of the time, so 22 feet its plenty of space for me) A new engine and a new tiller pilot and I'm having a new boat.

I went sailing with a group of Macgregor 26X sailors, and the auto-tack got me sold. Press two buttons, the boat tacks and gives you a chance to change sheets, it doesn't get any sweeter than that :)
