Reefing C22 Main Sail

Post by Carl_IN_TX »

Has anyone written up a step-by-step for reefing a C22 mailsail? Or perhaps a photo or two to post? I have an original mainsail with one set of reef points.

Thanks
Carl

I use the jiffy reefing system in my boat. It uses one cheek block and some cleats. This might help.

Yes that helps. I have reefed once but did it wrong. After looking at how jiffy reefing is supposed to be set up, I have all the hardware on the boom. The strap eye, small block and jam cleat are there. All I need are two pieces of dacron line.

Sometimes the Texas wind can go from 5 knots to 20 when a fall cool front blows through! Better be ready!

Thanks,
Carl

Yeah, I reef quite often when the wind picks up. I usually reef in the morning before heading out. Its easier to let go a reef than trying to reef on heavy winds, in my opinion.
