On-Board Stereo Systems....

Post by NYCSAILOR »

Ok, I have got nothn' right now and I just use an old boom box... I purchased a Jensen marine stereo /cd player head unit and wondering how you are set-up .. where do you put your speakers, your head unit etc... my plan is simply to connect the ipod and be done with it... but speakers require holes and holes require planning and courage.

Lady Jo ( C22 ) has the head unit under the companion way aft and port of keel the winch. Speakers are 4 small box speakers mounted below. they are plenty loud enough to hear in the cockpit but you don't want to be below when that loud! ;)

thanks, I am thinking maybe moutning a box speaker in the lazerette and hoping the acounstice will be decent and make it through so as to avoid holes.... or do the "swing out" thing from inside the companion way...

Sirius radio has gators football? Where is the drooling emoticon when you need it.

Banshi,

Where/how do you mount your Yamaha speakers and Head unit?

This is where I placed my stereo and then put portable speakers on both sides behind the lazerette with long enough speaker wire so I can take them out in to cockpit.

the speaker holes were cut before I got my C-22 and the stereo unit is just behind the starboard bulk head.

I'm not much of a stereo/tech person but my brother-in-law is and he owes me...lol

First you have to get the XM extra package to get the Gator games along with a bunch of other colleges

Second I mounted the speakers on the shelves over the v-birth on each side. I want to get a couple of exterior for the cockpit somewhere. The radio is mounted to the plywood bulkhead right below the port stays. They are actually a set of computer speakers that would run on 12 volts.....music on a budget
