BBQ?

Curious if anyone actually grills at anchor.... I know the thought of a live flame on a boat is crazy but they do make these small rail mounted BBQ's....

Does anyone ue one..? if so where ? we have a few gallons of gasoline ( and vapors ) back there int he cockpit on the stern..... doesn't seem safe... but must be fun if anyone has any ideas or expereince.

Yes, and YES!

We use a BBQ on Destiny from time to time and yes indeed it is an awesome thing to have aboard.

Be dang sure your BBQ does not drip hot stuff anywhere near your stored gasoline. On Destiny we hang the BBQ off the stern opposite any gas tanks. I would think on the Chryslers you could hang it off the port or starboard rail so drips go off the boat. Be aware that the propane BBQ are prone to getting blown out. Propane is heavier than air so if you BBQ inside the cockpit, the flame goes out un noticed you are setting yourself up for severe problems!! I treat all propane bottles just like my propane tank. Stored in an outside vented sealed locker. That way should one leak, I'm OK.

With caution and care an onboard BBQ can be awesome!!

Does any one have any recommendations for a stainless steel bbq grill that mounts on the rail? All I can find are propane, and we like our meat grilled over charcoal.

I've had issues with flameouts on my "West Marine" BBQ.
I've heard nothing but glowing reviews from the Dickinson BBQ's.
However I have no experience with them.

Yeah, I know, they are propane.

No experience with it, other than I want one - but the original charcoal Magma is still out there in addition to the bottle gass ones

Yup, I have a charcoal BBQ stern mounted grill that I use all the time.

The stern is the best place for using it but for safety where exactly do you mount it since we have that OB gas tank right in the aft cockpit and I would do charcoal too but woory about best place for an open flame w/o doing something stupid/deadly.
