is Chrysler model 2630 really a mutineer?
I am looking at a sailboat on ebay. It is being sold by Rawhide inc which is a charity that Bart Starr started years ago. They call the boat a 1973 Chrysler 2630. It is 15' long with a beam of 6', load rated for 4.5 people. I've not seen that model on your web site, and wonder if it really is a mutineer? The ebay item number: 250477109459. This would be the first boat for me and my wife, age 56. I have about 10 days of experience on a Zuma sailboat on a small lake that belongs to a freind of mine. I'd appreciate anybody's idea of what the model really is, and if it would be a good first boat for us. We would be trailering to sail. There are 3 good lakes within 40 miles of where we live in Beaver Dam, Wi.
Well,
In one pict you can see the transom and part of the hull ID tag, CBC, on the right corner which is the identifier for Chrysler.
I'm not familiar with the mutineer myself, but goin on the picts alone, the trailer is worth someting, it has a roller furler, and appears to be in decent shape. You could learn a lot on a boat that size an it's easy to raise the mast. It's probably gonna need lines and some work, any boat that age would... Plus it has a really cool canon on the mainsail!!
I have a buddy who just bought a Capri 18 for $1000 in what looks like the same shape. He got it just for fun and already owns a Newport 27.
Is it close enough to go see it? Ya have a few day's before the bidding is over...

Welcome aboard !
Not sure about the model number but it looks like a Mutineer, specs like one, has the class logo on the main. As far as I know the Mutt still has an active class with a home page of

where you can see some more pics to compare, etc.

It looks like a nice boat. I just discovered these guys recently, they're not far from me and have lots of fixer-uppers. God help me!

This is a Mutineer. I got one from one of my customers for our neighbor in North Carolina. We paid 300. for it but it wasn't in nearly as good shape as this one. It is on the origional Chrysler trailer. The one i got has a spinaker chute in the deck at the bow like the Buccaneer. It has the spinaker. I towed it from Pa to NC and you don't know its back there. Its an easy boat to rig and fun fast boat to sail. It will be a good boat for a couple.

we drove to Rawhide today to look at the boat. Rawhide has hundreds of boats in their yard! All different sizes and shapes. We found an informatin packet in the boat with a "mutineer" brochure from the 70's in full color. So it is a mutineer. There was also another one in their yard that looked a little rougher. This looks like a pretty roomy boat. Those of you that have mutineers, is it easy and fast to rig after launching when launching from a trailer?
Again,
Not a Mutineer guy, but my first boat was an 18ft "Peregrine" built in Nova Scotia and very similiar to what your looking at. I towed it with a VW Rabbit, was sailing in less than 20 minutes from the time I undid the straps holding it on the trailer.
I miss that ease with my 22, which can take an hour after getting to the ramp to raisin sails... It's happy in the slip now
