You're gonna love that boat ! Got any pics, hmmmm ??

EE has only one bilge pump, in the small bilge area under the steps (she does have a spare with a long length of cable and hose that could be dropped in the vberth hold or elsewhere if needed), a water tank under the galley, and as of yet no holding tank for the head which is locked and not used.

SUMP PUMP

Post by Chrysler20%26 »

More boats sink in there slips than out in open water. If you have sure-power ( 120 ) why not add a house type SUMP PUMP, thay don't coust much an are dependable.

You can see where EE's bilge pump is at

http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?ep= ... 280782&ck=

You can see at lot of the C26's guts on that site actually

The "Galley and Mast" page of the 77 C26 Manual will show you the original water tank at
http://chryslersailing.lizards.net/

Click on then "Manuals", then "Chrysler 26 Owner's Manual", then "1977 Owner's Manual"

Some of the other items like holding tanks, etc. are probably custom from boat to boat.

"Ya Never Know" didn't have a bilge pump when I bought her. I've since added one to the small bilge under the stairs. Where is everyone putting the thru hull for this? I was planning on joining mine to the sink outlet pipe with enough of a rise to prevent water from coming back into the bilge.

What I use,

Post by Windwalker »

Greg,

I use a Rule 750, http://www.rule-industries.com/products ... /index.htm, and will put one more this winter. Windwalker has been on the hard for a year and in that time the first one has stopped working so will install a second, and fix the first.

The bilge space on the 26 is tight, and this is one of the few pumps with any capacity that will fit in the space. There is suppose to be a space in the front of the keel as well, but I'll be danged if I can find it.

Good luck, and welcome to the Chrysler obsession.

Dog,

I put my bilge waste out the stern into the outboard mount space. Well above the waterline and well hidden.

PartyDog, that is how EE's bilge hose runs now, but I've considered moving it as Windwalker said. I think that would be less of a rise for the pump since you don't need the high point in it, and it is well above the water line.

Windwalker, the area in front of the keel trunk and under the head "may" be connected to the step area bilge ? There is a gap between EE's sole and the ballast pour that connects up there.

If you stick your head in the forward port banquette hatch you can use a flashlight and almost see under the head right infront of the keel trunk.

I'll try and flush water through it once I have the bilge pump working and check it out. A shop vac is will be on hand in case there is not a passage.

Thanks!

I have one bilge pump on my c-26.. the bilge has a very deep and narrow triangular shape ... real tough for a bilge pump to get down into...

my bilge pump exhasut tube (3/4" clear plastic thick wall tubing) runs as per Darin's out the stern -- low rise that way and above the waterline.. I got to get and set-up a new bilge pump this winter.. mine died

OK that was some help. I guess I still don't know about the holding tank for the sink. Any info? Thanks all. My work continues.

Greg,

I don't have the OEM under sink water holding tank either.... I would love to see a pic of it as I think it was a special purpose item but perhaps others here have rigged up something stock that will fit or work....I am thinking of putting water bags under the rear "coffin" berth to the sink.. but the stern of the boat ( and the port stern esp.) is damn weighted down already.. OB, Battery, crew etc... and the boat is very heavy to begin with... I really hav eto think placement out much better with performance in mind...

EE, is your bilge pump in the nearly inaccessible (for the rest of us) area just aft of the keel? Or is it under the aft berth?

BTW, I have to come up with a better term than "aft berth" it sounds too much like a non-boating related term.

Yes, mine is in that small area just to the left of the end keel pocket as seen in the "Sole Removed" pic at http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?ep= ... 280782&ck=

You could probably reach from under the aft berth to get a pump that far forward.

Well there is a tube runing from the sink drain into the hull. Have no idea what it goes to at this point. There is a through hull on the port side just above the waterline. Anyone know what this is for? I'm thinking there must be a owners manuel on these boats someplace that explains these things. I have seen the one posted on this site but seems to leave a lot of this stuff out. Thanks again for the input. --- Gundy

I can tell you what's on EE, maybe that will help you - she has 3 thru hulls on the port side, not counting the depth transducer.

The galley sink drain goes into one there behind the galley, it's above the waterline.

Midships there is one below the waterline, that pulls in water for the head. Ours is locked in the off position, its the only one with a valve.

Just ahead of that is another one above the waterline, that is the direct discharge for the head, which we don't use.

On the starboard side, there's a knotmeter paddlewheel in a thru hull.

And under the stern berth is a thru hull with a dummy plug in it.
