Nov. 25, My boat is out of the water, an in my drive way. Not bad four Michigan, to stay in the water so long. I like the easy loader trailer, just put the first set of rollers in the water an winch the boat out of the water. An I like using wax, not paint, boat came uut clean an just a lettel power washing. Outboard lower unit oil looked thick but milkey, I never take it out of the water. I drained it an but in one tub of fresh oil, to stop rust. How maney tubs of oil does the 13 hp 280 sailer hold. The engin pumps water will, an I sail in fresh water, Shuld I Fix The Leek In The Lower Unit

Happy Thanksgiving ! Be best to find out were the LU is leaking, yes. Esp. since you leave the leg in the water (as I do too).

If you don't, then one day when you are using the motor for a long trip, you'll be damaging the gears since the oil will be about 75% water ! Pick up a seal kit, it's probably the rear seal.

Can't recall how many tubes I used, but it was several for sure.

Oh, and be careful what is labeled "vent" (I think) on the front of the lower unit gearcase. That's not a vent, it is the pin that the 90 degree shift "elbow" rides on, and if you remove it by mistake, you'll have a hard time getting it lined back up without taking everything apart. Don't ask how I know that...the real fill vent is way up the leg.

dropped the foot off my old outboard trying to check the water pump but it has not yet come off like the manual said it would......probably something else connected that the generic manual has not made clear.

I'm thankful for being part of a great group and having such a great boat to sail. Having the boat here is a good thing also, I can get a motor on it and fix leaks and find places to add the teak I'm collecting.

I hope everyone gets stuffed today

I also ate too much and feeling the cabin fever already last of sailboats came out week ago.C-26 is covered and left a flap that I can get into so I can bring
hand rails and wood cabin slides in to work on over winter
