EE has an wonderfully useless drain hole for the anchor locker. Look just below the boweye and see if there's not a small clogged hole there. Actually I think I see it in your pic.
If you've got water damage there, take a look at the boweye nuts in the bottom of the locker, they may be compromised. The boweye comes thru the hull there, thru a wooden block, and has a metal plate behind the wooden block. EE's block was gone, the nuts and threads were rusted, and the boweye failed under stress.
My repair page for that bulkhead can be found here
I didn't do the full scrape in there like I did the cabin - just scraped the rough stuff off with a pull scraper since carpet was going back in there anyway.

3M adhesive remover and a stiff brush works great for removing the old glue.
sand with 180 then 320 grit sand paper should smooth out the fiberglass then duplicoat epoxy primer before paint (its green)
All can be bought at auto parts stores
if the fiberglass has alot of ulcerations you can sand with 80 grit then aply fiberglass resin then sand with the 180/320.

I did the removal in my aft berth area late last summer because the headliner (not really "carpet") was hanging down in several places. I got most of the backing foam and adhesive off just by using a putty knife as a scraper, but I suspect ease of removal is temperature dependant.
The glass there is pretty rough for painting on my boat and would require a lot of filler and sanding to get a smooth finish. I considered using a bedliner paint though, since it's thickness and texture would hide the flaws.

Thanks for the advice! I hope the weather improves for some more glue removal and priming work. If not, I will just work on the electrical system. You never know when you are going to get some nice winter weather in Kansas... but it's usually on a day you have to work

BTW, when using paint, adhesives please remember our boats are enclosed spaces. Wear a good respirator (not a dust mask) and get all the ventilation you can. It's probably not a bad idea to have someone outside the boat as well, just in case.

Hi Al,
I was looking at your photo at the top of the thread. I like the flood lights hanging from your spreaders. Looks like one points a bit forward and the other points aft. Do they work well? I like the idea. I'm thinking this would be a nice feature to add to my C-22 if they are effective.
Thanks
Alan

What Mario G and Gus said, I used all the methods to get the old adhesive out used the chemicals and heat but, the 80 Grit on a 8" disk sander (wear a resperator/dust mask) worked the best only problem was dust everywhere. After the clean up laid two coats of fiberglas resin in to even up the floor and then laid vinyl flooring strips that look like oak planking
Al you have one of my projects on your boat already those deck lights on the spreaders look good.

As far as the lights on the spreader go... currently they don't work. I wish they did and I am hoping to get some stout friends of mine to help me lower the mast, replace wiring and bulbs as needed, and raise the mast.
Thanks to the info Captain Scott has provided on his site regarding mast raising, I think this is possible... and I'll let you know the outcome.

Al it is the way to do it I use the gin pole and I do it alone as no one is
around and I am 5'4" slightly overweight and 55. Make sure you do it and
make sure the bridles are good I changed to chain when one broke with the mast up about 5' and that is heavy and I did not want to wear it.
If you are nervous and you have a friend with a tow truck and a extending boom he could do it with that or the boat yard may have a crane.
