The ladder and motor mount have been removed. If posting seemingly every step of this overhaul becomes too redundant or borning, feel free to call me on it. No feathers will be ruffled.
With luck the motor mount looks to be in reasonable shape, a lot of new reinforcement may not be needed. Removing it was a real pain 20+ bolts and a few screws, with no one to back me up from the inside. The nuts to the bottom row of bolts were imbedded in fiberglass, and spun freely.
Keep the reports and photo's coming. I've got a C-22 and I'm looking at this project on your C-26 like a cliff hanger. Can't wait till the next installment. Kind of a like a Chrysler soap opera I guess.
Tune in next time and see if he'll be reinforcing or glassing, possible both. No, this is high drama, don't keep us hanging.
Thanks for all the positive input, but I do not know how good of a story teller or teacher I will be. What I have done up to this point is just prep work, so don't feel that I'm leaving you hanging on purpose. The real meat of this drama most likely will not be seen until the summer of 2010. Figuratively speaking I stand on no pedestal for the old term of a babe in the woods fits my nautical know how to a T.
I can't wait to see what happens next! Thanks for the pictures... my motor mount is starting to crack and I will have to face it someday. Therefore I really appreciate seeing/hearing about your experiences with this.
When you pull your motor mount it may be a good idea to have someone stand by, just in case. If the nuts on the bottom row break free from the fiberglass surrounding them and spin you will need a other pair of hands, or become creative with your tools on hand.
