this guy has to motor under a low bridge each time he sails.... he has a video of him raising and lowering the mast in the water SOLO ... and claims he can do this while underway with someone on the tiller.....AND it is a Catalina 25!

These vids are incredibly confidence building for a guy like me that has never lowered/raised the mast and is cautiously trying to get the courage to do it this coming season so to save the big $$$ in crane fees...

Three owrds... Hinged mast plate

I don't know I I can fit a hinged mast plate on the 26....I would be afraid the torque of the huge mast would rip out the mast step if it ever decides to go lateral... doesn't the mast "finger" do anything?

I would rather have a Mast Step Finger, It has worked fine for 30++ years an should work fine another 20++ by that time I will be too old for sailing.

We may grow old and our bodies frail and single handed sailing long past... but are we ever too old for sailing?
