Well, I couldn't resist the price of "zip", that's all I have in my defense.

As Found Pics Are Here. Still looking for that Chrysler 22, but for now this Cal 21 needs a home and some TLC. And EE will be out of the water till next spring, and then a couple hours away...and this one I can launch with the car, and is good for the little lake..hmm, I'm justifying this to myself again as I type ...

First thing first time for some clean up.........You find people who do this for a long period of time love to work on them as much as we love to sail them, we are obsessed, heck some are so infatuated with these vessels that after in gets to dark and cold to work outside we simply go inside and work on one with even smaller parts and more difficult areas to access..........bifocals are a real help at this point.........

sadly this is the second time I have built this particular model, I must be a masochist..............

Banshi, nice model - The Constitution ? I built the Flying Cloud, Cutty Sark, and Old Ironside models as a kid.

EE, Good find looks like all the main componats are there. I know you do good work, an you will give an old boat new life. An you can make some money saleing it. Then you could look for a C-20, ( your car would work on that one too)

Yep the Constitution, the big one it is 3' foot tall, found it at a flea market about 20 years ago partially started (decks were in) just now getting around to finishing it.

That Cal will make a great small lake boat, bet the mast can be stepped by hand easily. I would like to get something open in the 18 foot range in the near future myself.

Banshi, some years ago I took a work trip to Boston and went to the shipyard to see the Constitution. Amazing. We didn't get to go aboard, but the yards and yardarms were inside a building, and I stood at one end and looked down one. It went on forever !!

Have fun!! Wouldn't mind something a little easier to tow and set up for quick trips also!

My Dad spent some time building a model of the Bluenose, think my brother got it after he passed...

I went aboard the Constitution once as a kid while we were living in Rhode Island, at age 10 I still had to bend over below decks and my mother who is 6'............lets just say she did not stay down there very long

Nice deal. that looks like it should be a fairley easy claen up. Lots of Purple Power. Have you had a chance to check it out structuraly? Was the outboard part of the deal? Is that a solar vent up foward on the cabin? Good luck with the project. We'll be anxious to watch the progress

Thanks Clair, Seems fine structurally, there's really not a lot to them. Hull, no liner, a bit of efficient wooden cabinetry, mast, sails and rudder. Very simple. Outboard was not part of the package. And that's a passive vent in the pics which doesn't seem to leak which is surprising

Changes the EE winter plans, she'll stay in the water until this gets a going over, then it will give me something to sail while EE gets another upgrade.. She's been afloat for 18 months now except for the time around Hurricane Gustav, and I'm anxious to see how those minor blisters up near the bow are fairing, and to do more to make her better outfitted for overnight cruising.
