Well we did it !!
after raising the sails we unhooke from the mooring bouy, and we were on our way. It was in the mid 70's with westerly winds from 5-10.
My wife was a bit nervous every time we got a gust but she soon came to realize that that was what it all about, and settled in at the table to work on papers that she had brought along.
My son wasted no time streaching out on the bed with his phone and begun texting his girlfriend like he useally does.
As for me...well i was loving it, Jibs & main are nice & full..new Tiller feels great...And a Beautiful mature Bald Eagle flying overhead
we sailed from about noon until about 1800.
it was a nice tour of the lake only a mile from the house that I have never had the oppertunity to enjoy in 18 years of living there.
I did have a few minor rigging issues that I had to overcome though...The main sail is about a foot shorter than the boom, so I had to rig a short line from the "clew" I believe its called to a small block that I placed on the end of the boom in order to hold keep the tension.
Is there another way to do this?
I will post some pictures of our day shortly..
Otherwise I was the happiest guy on Mother Earth
