Internal halyards..

What is the big deal with internal halyards? less windage... less too tangle... anyway I was considering it..is it worthwhile... anyone do this to their chrysler's..had them on the J-30 , figure it is a racing thing..

I have all internal lines on Destiny. All external lines on Lady Jo.
The internal lines are definitely nicer looking. Very clean look, less likely to snag on anything, less sun wear on the lines, etc etc. I presume if I raced the lesser drag of internal halyards would be important however I can not confirm that.

My dad had a 26' S2 back in the early 1980's that had internal halyards. One downfall is that you cann't tie them off and they tended to clang when the boat rocked in port. Can be very annoying when trying to sleep.
