Almost famous

Post by Windward »

Hey, Windward's the Shipping News on Towndock.net, at least for the next few minutes. Another 3 minutes toward her 15 minutes of fame. Kinda cool!

If she's no longer the cover girl http://www.towndock.net then she's at http://towndock.net/shippingnews/cruise-of-the-windward

Great article Jeff. She sure looks good. They did a nice job of providing a variety of photo settings.

I was looking at that heeled over pic on page two of the article. Do you do that sort of thing often? I'd have to change my Depends after that!

Great story, nice pics. You gotta love Town Dock. I check it every day. I might steal one of the Dock Quotes for my boat's name.

Loved it, Story's like that keep us Chryler sailers going. Am I am getting a sail off the Great Windword for a meer $350.00. Don't know weather to use it or fram it. After Windward gets in the Chrysler Hall Of Fame. That sail could bring Big Bucks.

Wow! You guys are kind of embarrassing. Glad you liked the article, though.

As far as the Chrysler Hall of Fame, we have a bunch of potential inductees here, and I'll bet there are loads of interesting stories in this group.

@Leatherneck, it all depends on the breeze, and that's not the most efficient angle to sail at, but yes, Windward spends a good bit of time heeled like that. If nothing else, I know that the rig's fairly secure. I'm cautious on the coast -- "Graveyard of the Atlantic" is probably not just a slogan to attract tourists, and big waves could eat me -- but never had conditions that I won't sail in on our lake, where that picture was taken.

Great story Jeff and I see in some of your videos that you have some custom
rigging and blocks on your jib sheets and that would make it easier to adjust for partially furled head sail.when I can get new or brake parts for my keel winch and new cable then I can lower my keel and take more than 15 - 18 kt winds. Unfortunately here in the northeast My Getaway is on the trailer so I will have to use the stories pictures and videos from the members in warmer
climates to avoid cabin fever. Thank you for your stories.
Catch the wind and ride the wave, Have fun

Now it's my understanding that the most recent hall of fame inductee hosts all of us at his house. Is that correct.

Ok, let's see, if I take the South Platt to the Missouri, that joins the Kansas river which dumps into the Mississippi. Then it's downstream to... hey I wonder of mapquest could be made to work out destinations by river rather than road. Interesting concept.

Very Cool Article!

I enjoyed reading it and looking at your picts. I doubt I'm the only one that looks at all the "doodads" and how folks make their space work.

Thank You!
