The Good: It's been sailed several times w/o incident; it's waterproof and durable (cut from Corian-style synthetic counter top material).
The Bad: It's not centered and affects mast plumb and shroud tension, so is likely to negatively impact performance, weather helm and feel.
The Ugly: The thing is ugly, not confidence-inspiring due to ill fit, and it's fastening bolts tend to shift out of the grooves, if you can call the rough cuts that term.
If I end up making a new one, I'd want the stock thickness dimension and a picture of how they're fastened to the deck. It'd be great to get a tracing of an OEM part. Here's one of the current one.

Of course, it'd be fantastic to have a new or used one that is the right fit. I just don't think it wise to monkey around with spar fittings!
Any ideas beyond calling Nickels? They don't list that part on their website, as far as I have found.
All the best,
