looks like the 2006 15HP Honda Four stroke is worth it alone..

lI like what ooks like an aftermarket rudder... and the jib tracks as well...

what do all you make of the cabin top cracks....hmmmmm, do you think this took a rally hard hit or some other structural failure.

I had the same thoughts ! Not sure about the cracks, but doesn't look good !

VERY FUNNY...playing to my addiction/affliction...

DE is not THAT close ( I tell myself) but I DO need that RUDDER and the OUTBOARD and the toilet and the elec. panel....

OK HOW IS THIS..ANYONE WANT TO GO PARTNERS.... I need the RUDDER for sure ..

It's located in Pasadena, MD - not that far. You KNOW you love dealing with the marinas up that way.

I'd love to have the furler, we dunked EE again yesterday now that the lake is down from Gustav and it was a beautiful day with 10's gusting to 15 and a high in the 80's, but by the time I slugged the main back on, mounted the tiller, removed the remants of the bimini, put new lines on in the slip,etc, I just didn't feel like digging out and hanking that jib on let alone pulling it off later !

Hopefully Sunday will be the same

I saw the listing last weekend. My hubby said the exact same thing about the engine

I shot him a look, no honey we are not buying a boat so you can have an engine. We barely have room for the one we own now.

My wife's sentiments exactly.. you really can't win on thsese things... if you spend money buyintht e items outright...it is costly and not fun...if you go and try and get the items in a deal ( and get a WHOLE boat in the bargain) you get her really mad... ok her view of the beach house was not to have a yard full of old boats and parts and stuf...

still what is up with her crack in teh cabin...weird..stress failure ? mold failure?

forgot aboout the furler... I don't like hanking the jib on either.. esp. since I solo mostly

Hubby opined that the crack might be from over tensioning on the shrouds

That is very tempting. For 300? Even the crack makes the hull worthless you could strip it down and recoup the money from selling off parts from Ebay. If I had a trailer and a place to store it I would be all over it.

We should have a group non-profit "save the Chryslers" fund for these opportunities... maybe a buy it out of the fund and then "sell the parts internally to the group and as fran says sell off any excess on ebay and replensih the fund...everyone wins...

we could spend a day with a few of us ( hey nice fall group outing...I would come down from NYC!) stripping her and then chainsaw her up ( tearfully) and toss into a rented dumpster ( chepaer than hauling or trailering her anywhere)

Sadly, she already has all the upgrades I am planning on spending on my C-26 at about a thrid the price of just the rudder alone... but that crack on a donated boat...could be scary or could be absolutly nothing....remember it does not take much damage at all to make a chrysler completely beyond econimical repair and instant "garbage" especially if it is a repair that would require nothing but many hours of labor..faced with 20 hours of labor at $90 in a yard or a nice tax deduction for a 30 year old boat... it is a no brainer for most sane people with a brain that actually outweighs their heart...

Never did get an answer from the seller re that crack. Maybe we will find out should the buyer join the board later.

Hopefully it wasn't a sinker, there's always the possibility of ripping the top off when using a cabin full of tubes to re-float. That also would explain such a crack. Not quite enough of a view on the interior pics to see if the crack goes thru.

Used 15hp 4 stroke, sold for 1075 an came with a c-26. What a buy for a Snow Bird, my days of liveng on a boat are over. But think about it, this winter when it's 20 below, I could be sailing around the Bahomas, an Fl. Ship the 15hp home in the spring , give the boat away, or trade for a ticket home. The boat was on the Intercostal Water Way, from there you can go to Main, New York, Michigan, an the Grate Lakes, an Fl. This winter when I work on my c-26, I will keep in mind that the boat my not be worth the cost of the bodom paint. Glad that it came with a Gav. steel trailer, with allmost new tires an brakes. It sould be worth the 2300 I paid.

this was an ez one.... a real no-brainer....go down there and get the 2006 Honda, the furller and then just leave the boat there and "donate" it right back to the same charity you bought it from.... deals like this are what make used boats fun.. ez for everyone and everyone wins...

I purchased this boat on ebay for $1075. I just recently found your page and thought I would put out some info for whomever is interested. I bought the boat having very limited sailing experience figuring it would be a cheap way to get my feet wet. I recognized the price was worth it just for the motor. I thouroghly inspected the boat and gave it some new antifouling paint. I'm not sure what caused the original damage but the visible crack is actually the edge of a fiberglass repair that someone was in the process of feathering out with a grinder and never finished. I suspect the original damage was because it was banged against a dock in a hurricane. I sailed the boat 200 miles from baltimore to DC for its maiden voyage and got the boat leaned all the way over. GPS recorded 8.5 mph. I'm quite happy with the way the boat sails. I have been refinishing the interior and I am looking foward to future adventures. At somepoint a previous owner saved me the trouble and added quite a few nice features like the roller furling and all the lines led aft and plumbed a holding tank. I'm planning to add a solar panel and enclosure and a autotiller.

Im in the process of remodeling the galley area. Im not goiing to put effort into making it fancy just practical. I ripped out the old cabinetry and installed some new plywood sheating to house a mini fridge with a sink and a small microwave bolted to the top. Above that i built a simple plywood shelf supported from the ceiling with a kitchen fold down lcd tv under it. I'm considering my options for locating the fresh water tank. Have any of you fixed keel guys looked in your bilge. There is quite a large pocket that runs down the back of the keel and Im thinking a triangular bag for fresh water would fit nicely there. Obviously lowering the CG and freeing up room. I'm also thinking of redesigning the outboard bracket so the motor will tilt clear.

Welcome aboard Frankyd. We are all partial to the Chryslers and I was lucky to find mine for the 700 I paid with a brand new trailer and rebuild rudder and cleaning was the major part after she came out of the woods.
One year earlier he turned down 2000 and I did not want the outboard so I found a buyer for the Honda and he got 1000 out of the boat. I need a furler and I am going to make it like I did on the Newport. Should cost
about 35 dollars.

we have the fixed keel, lots of room for fresh water, we carry over 100 gallons on our C-26, good luck and welcome aboard lots of friendly sailors willing to help with your project

Welocme, I was so worried someone would grab the OB and just discard a great boat at that price....I have the fixed keel also and would love to hear more about and see pics of your remodling effort... I am in the hunt for a new/better ruddr so any info/pics on yours would help as wella s pics of the trailer... you did well! CONGRATS! these boats have a way of becoming addictive

NYCsailor, I dont know anything about the rudder. the boat sails well with it. I took pictures of the boat in dry dock. How is it different than the original? Its appears to have been on the boat a while. As far as the remodeling when I'm done I'll post some pics but I'm going for functionality not looks. The galley is almost done and then I plan to put the water in the keel and relocate the batteries under the rear bunk area. eventually I want a dodger and bimini.

keys skipper, I wish I was in the keys. I plan to drive down in march to replenish my vitamin D but I wish I could bring my boat down eventually.
What info can you share about installing the fresh water in your keel? I'm about to do this and would love some insight.

what a beautiful boat.. you should name her the purchase price... no one would believe what you got... please send me whatever pics you got of the rudder... you have an aftermarket custom rudder... which is what I am after and your pics ( measurements) would be great in saving me time and money... ( the rudder alone wil cost me more than your whole boat and OB...( oh.. an trailer too right!)
