I want to put a roller on Windward and was thinking of the same approach that I see you've already used. My furler drum's quite close to the deck, though, and since I've experienced furler/anchor interference on charter boats before I was thinking of offsetting the roller instead.
How's the roller working for you in real life? Do you have a furler? Any problems, or any of those "I shoulda" moments?
Thx,
J
Ron, how's the anchor roller working out?

The roller works great other then getting the boat on and off the trailer. The anchor hangs down and prevents me from pulling the boat completely on the trailer so I have to stow the anchor before I load it on the trailer. That is not a big problem, because it has to happen sooner or later.
I do have a furler with 12" brackets that mount to either side of the roller. The forestay mounts directly in the middle of the roller channel. On the underside the bolts come through to piece of angle and that mounts to a piece that is glassed into the bow of the boat.
I have a huge bow anchor and a smaller stern anchor so I have only used the bow achor a few times. I mostly anchor in small coves that the boat barely fits in so I do not need much holding power, so i just deploy the stern anchor.
The problem at this point is I do not have an place for the anchor chain and line on the bow. I have everything to glass in a locker and a chainpipe but not sure I am willing to loose the space in the berth.

Rode stowage
Yeah, I'm on the fence re: rode stowage as well. Usually I keep the main hook and its rode in the aft starboard settee locker, which works well at home since it's easier to anchor from the cockpit when singlehanded. On the coast I like to have the big Danforth up on the bow; I've been keeping the rode in a bag lashed to the pulpit and toe rail when the Danforth's up front, but would like a slightly more elegant solution. A modest rode locker still leaves me space to stretch out with my arms crossed above my head, and I'm about 6'.
Trailer thing is still a concern, although I only trailer once or twice a year. Don't want a dock catcher, either.
My Harken furler is pretty darned tight to the deck... may go for the offset roller.
