I blew my main sail out on June 24th in a surprize puff. would you fix or replace? What would you do?

If it were me, I'd start budgetting for a new sail and then promptly try to fix the blown sail myself. If the fix works and holds, I have budget for new but not spent, if the fix fails, then I have budget for new that will get spent!

It would make a perfect oppurtunity to practice your sewing skills!

I would follow Cap'n Scott's advice except that I would probably buy the new sail regardless. Then your old sail becomes a spare.

i ripped my main recently while hoisting it. I decided I would patch it with the intent of buying a new main eventually and keeping the patched sail as a spare. if you dont care about looks a patch made of spare dacron and contact cement works very well.
